Hemcrete® is both a good insulator and has thermal inertia (similar to thermal mass).
Buildings created from Hemcrete® have very low or zero energy in use.
The U values for walls depend on the Hemcrete® wall thickness for example for standard mix:
A 200 mm wall has a U value of 0.3
A 300 mm wall has a U value of 0.2
A 400 mm wall has a U value of 0.15

Air tightness is also critical in creating energy efficient
buildings and meeting the requirements of the
code for sustainable homes.
Hemcrete® is a single cast product with no layers, cavities or joints and
so is inherently air tight.
Hemcrete® based buildings regularly achieve air
tightness below 2.0 m3/m2/hr@ 50 Pa a summary of
